Blackpool became a tourist attraction in the middle of 18th century. However Blackpool only grew into a substantial town when the railway was built connected it to the main Town. The railway made it easier and cheaper for visitors to came to
Blackpool. Then in 1879 the electric lights were switched on in Blackpool, at that time the electric light was very new and this was also provided an exciting event which attracted many visitors.
